I don't think Luke's hesitating at the entrance necessarily disproves my theory. If he were about to take his own life, of course he would hesitate. That being said, your theory is also consistent with the clues I presented. Burning the tree could be the last Jedi rite, and then he would remain in hiding to die of old age. Either way, the Jedi Order ends. And then, there's a middle ground theory, that he was going to burn the tree around himself, but after Yoda ignited it he wasn't trying to run in there to die. Rather, at that point he had reconsidered his plan, and was going after the texts. Lots of ways to interpret it! And I love the discussions it provokes!Matt Markshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01986191002288776923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8761282663656869335.post-61482187926336245982018-01-09T19:24:10.061-06:002018-01-09T19:24:10.061-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Matt Markshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01986191002288776923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8761282663656869335.post-84291235898251128132018-01-09T18:59:38.620-06:002018-01-09T18:59:38.620-06:00Luke hesitates when he goes to burn the tree and s...Luke hesitates when he goes to burn the tree and stops short of doing it. Yoda causes a bolt of lightening to strike the tree and after it erupts in flames Luke tries to run in to save the Jedi texts but is prevented by a blast of fire which throws him to the ground. He doesn't want to commit suicide! He just wants to live out his life on Ahch To. He was conflicted as to whether he should destroy the texts and when it appears Yoda allows them to burn Luke exclaims "The sacred Jedi texts!" as he believes them to be in the tree.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8761282663656869335.post-37142547269524134012017-04-15T05:11:42.732-05:002017-04-15T05:11:42.732-05:00Hmm, that's an interesting idea. I recently came across your blog, and ...Hello Matt. I recently came across your blog, and after reading several of the posts, I knew I needed to subscribe. I also consider myself a geeky Catholic, and though our specific circumstances are different, I can definitely relate to your family's struggles with infertility. My wife and I had been trying for children for roughly 3 years, and last year we had an ectopic pregnancy. We lost that child, whom we have named Rose. It was a terrible experience for both of us, but it did lead to our doctor finally agreeing to the laproscopic surgery that found endometriosis. Currently, my wife is pregnant again with our second child, who was conceived naturally only 3 weeks after the surgery. I understand the emotions of excitement and apprehension that you described, and though I'm never fully free from worry, I hope each day that God will be with our little one as he or she grows. We are currently at 17 weeks, and all the signs are pointing to a healthy pregnancy. Anyway, sorry for my rambling. Thanks for starting this blog (there's not really many miscarriage blogs out there from the dad's perspective) and I hope to read more from you in the future. I pray that your wife's current pregnancy stays healthy and you have a beautiful baby.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15025545310197089481noreply@blogger.com
